Health & Wellness Services:

Orientation
Our Health and Wellness staff will help you set up physical activity goals and establish an appropriate exercise program tailored to your health and fitness needs.  This consultation is FREE to all members.

Body Composition Analysis
Measuring Body Fat is important for determining good health.  Body Composition measurements help distinguish between pounds that come from body fat and those that come from lean body mass or muscle.  In comparison, using body weight measurements alone is not a clear indicator of good health.  We use bioelectrical impedance, a non-invasive method of determining your body fat percentage, lean body mass, fat mass, hydration level and more.  Body composition analysis is FREE to all members.

Blood Pressure Screening
According to the American Heart Association, high blood pressure directly increases the risk of coronary heart disease and stroke, especially when it's present with other risk factors.  The only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is through regular monitoring.  Blood pressure readings are FREE to all members.

WALKING GROUP

Walking in a group has many benefits; it’s safer than walking alone, it relieves boredom, and it’s fun and motivating.

Walking may help reduce stress, reduce risk of heart disease, lower total cholesterol and lower blood pressure.  It can help maintain healthy bones and muscles, stabilize blood sugar, improve immunity and reduce stress.

Prolonged physical activity such as walking for 30-60 minutes daily can increase energy expenditure and help control weight.  When combined with healthy eating and resistance training, walking can help reduce body fat percentage.

PreNatal Yoga

PreNatal Yoga combines gentle stretches, movements and postures with breathing and relaxation techniques. Yoga develops strength, tone, balance and agility, and often reduces physical discomforts associated with pregnancy such as pelvic, back and leg pain. Yoga brings the breath and body into synch, increasing internal awareness and focus and developing confidence and trust in your body. With practice, these elements help you to move through pregnancy, birth and into the postpartum period with greater comfort. Classes are open to women in all stages of pregnancy and fitness levels whether or not you have practiced yoga before.
