Ludlow Boys & Girls Club Annual Triathlon

The Ludlow Community Center/ Randall Boys & Girls Club would like to thank you for your support in making our 19th Annual Triathlon another success. Once again the weather cooperated with near perfect conditions for the participants. Over 310 athletes participated in this years’ race with Nick Dufresne and Martha Grinnell taking top honors in the men’s and women’s divisions. Their overall times were 1:06:31 and 1:13:04 respectively.

A special thanks goes out to our loyal sponsors, Luso Federal Credit Union and FieldEddy Insurance Agency, for their continuing support of the triathlon and new 2009 sponsor Hampden County Physicians. Thanks to all our Town Departments including: the Board of Selectmen and race starter Darlene Cincone, Officer Mark Witowski, Wendall Pryor, Nino Fernandes and the Special Police Force, the Ludlow Police, Chief Mark Babineau, Captain Jake Prokop and members of the Ludlow Fire Department, Paul Dzubek & Kenny Batista and members of the Department of Public Works, the Recreation Department and School Department for their continued support in making the triathlon a safe and fun filled event for both the participants and spectators. Thank you also to the Holyoke Auxiliary Police for their support and assistance in making the race safe year after year. Thanks to our triathlon captains,  Bob Ryan, John Vomero, Sheri Santos, Ursula Korman, Peter Musiak and over 75 staff and volunteers including  our friends from Country Bank who showed up in force to lend their support in making the race a safe and fun event for the athletes. Thank you to massage therapist Ed DeChellis for giving our participants post-race massages.

Congratulations to all the participants and a strong local contingent of athletes from the Springfield Cyclonauts Club who came out in support of the Boys & Girls Club. Our thanks to Jessica Salema at Dunkin Donuts, Dr. Steve McDaniel, Ray & Diane Robbins of Miracle Method, Yvonne Santos of United Bank, Ilda Panetta of BankNorth, and A.J. Palatino of Clean Cans for their continuing support.

Thanks to the support and generosity of all associated with the triathlon, we will continue to expand and provide programs and services to over 2,700 youth and their families.
